Preschool
Here is a preschool version with a stronger focus on kindergarten preparation:
A strong start begins in the Beamish Academy Preschool Room! Our engaging, play-based program helps children build the confidence, independence and foundational skills they need for a successful transition to kindergarten.
Each day includes a thoughtful balance of teacher-guided learning, child-led exploration, creative activities, music, stories, sensory experiences, outdoor play and group discussions. Children are introduced to early literacy and numeracy through meaningful, age-appropriate activities such as recognizing letters and sounds, listening to stories, practising early writing skills, counting, sorting, identifying patterns and exploring basic math concepts.
Kindergarten preparation is about more than academics. Our experienced, long-term educators help children develop important classroom skills, including following routines, listening during group activities, taking turns, sharing materials, completing simple tasks and communicating their needs. Children are encouraged to become more independent with dressing, toileting, cleaning up, opening lunch containers and caring for their belongings.
